Butcher Family of New York

William F. J. Butcher of New York, descendant of Banta family that arrived on 2/12/1659 from Harlingen, Holland and settled in New Amsterdam.
William was born 10/15/1894 son of George K. Butcher and Magdalena Krastel. After serving in WWI he joined the NYC Police Force where he worked until his retirement in 1957. Most of those years were spent in the old 17th Precint on 51st St. in Manhattan. He was married to Anna E. Beattie the oldest of the children of George Ward Beattie of Nova Scotia and Catherine Duffy of County Monaghan, Ireland. They had 8 children.
They started out in Glendale and lived out their lives in Richmond Hill, NY
