We are first and second generation descendants of German immigrants who settled in New York City. Charles Vogt (name was Karl Vogt in Germany) was born in Hausen im Wiesental, Germany on August 6, 1899. He immigrated to the U.S. through Ellis Island in 1920s and resided in New York City until his death on September 13, 1985 in Queens County, NYC, NY. He met Martha Schneider a German immigrant who came to the U.S. through Ellis Island in the 1930s and they were married in the early 1940s. Martha was born on January 22, 1911 in Beffendorf am Neckar, Germany and resided in Queens County, NYC, NY until December, 1996 and subsequently in North Carolina until her death on June 18, 2000. Charles Vogt was a U.S. Army Veteran (WW II) and is buried with Martha in Long Island National Cemetery, New York. Charles was the only one in his immediate family to migrate to the U.S. Martha had a sister, Emma Schneider Trick who migrated to New York and resided in Queens County, NYC until her death in the 1970s. Her husband, Eugene Trick died on January 1, 2000.
