Greetings to everyone researching the Voisard family. I have been doing genealogical research for about 10 years, specializing on the Voisard family in Quebec and its Swiss roots. In winter 1998, I published an article on the first Voisard to come to Canada as a soldier in the French army. After New France was conquered by the English, he chose to stay in Quebec and settle in the parish of Riviere-du-Loup-en-haut (now present-day Louiseville). This article was published in the quarterly journal Memoires de la Societe genealogique canadienne-francaise, volume 49(4), p. 259-264, entitled "Un ancetre jurassien: Henri Joseph Voisard (1729-1801)". All Voisards in Canada appear to descend from him.
BTW -- in this same article, I detail some of his Swiss roots in the village of Fontenais (canton of Jura) and trace the Voisard family back three generations until the early to mid 1600s.
I was born in Montreal in 1954, but I now live in Saskatoon, province of Saskatchewan (in western Canada). I would enjoy corresponding with other Voisards all over the world and exchanging family history. I can communicate in either French or English.
Best of luck in all your research!
