Tony(Tassos)Voutsinas, my father, came to this country(Canada)in the 1950's having 'jumped ship' from the Merchant Marine vessel on which he was voyaging. When docked in Vancouver he apparently faked a stomach-ache, checked in the entrance of the local hospital, checked out the back door, never actually having registered, and proceeded to climb upon the nearest railcar headed East to find his uncle Harry (Haralambros) in Montreal. It goes without saying that he made it. Does anybody else belong to brothers of these brothers who settled in Montreal? Aside from his uncle Harry, his own father Savvas (and eventually Savvas's entire family 5 sons and wife)joined him and settled in Montreal Canada. My grandfather (Savvas) and granduncle (Harry) where two of four children (sons). Are any of you children or grandchildren of the missing two brothers? (Sorry, no names as of yet)-If so where? Still in Greece or settled elsewhere? Their birthplace is Cephalonia, the cities of either Argostoli or Lixouri. I would be interested in tracing the name Voutsinas which is not typical and my suspicion is that it was Hellenified from a foreign last name. My father once mentioned the possibility of Romanian descendants. Can any other Voutsinases corroborate that?
