The Joseph Walker (son of George and Sarah (Wilton ?) Walker) family eventually sold their farm and moved to Iowa where they settled in Benton Township, Des Moines Co., IA. Joseph married Barbara Teter in W VA and they had 13 children. Son, Soloman, died at 18 years of age and is buried in Pendleton Co., W. VA.
The Walker family is very large and many remain in the surrounding area. The North Walker Cemetery is located North of Burlington, Iowa off of Hwy. #99. Many of the Walker ancestors are buried there and the cemetery is being cared for by a Walker descendant, Mark Wagler (whose mother was Marciele Walker Wagler and more closely, my husband!). We enjoy maintaining the cemetery and being surrounded by the history of the place. I hope to get photos of each stone and have it included in this site.
I have been in correspondence with several Walker descendants through the internet and have found new friends in them all. I hope to be able to add the Walker family to this site to inform, connect and maybe re-new past aquaintances.
