Descendants of Patrick Wark/Jane Finley, Ireland/Quebec/USA

Updated January 1, 2003

About Our Family Research

I am seeking information with regard to the origins of Patrick Wark and Jane Finley, married in Kilbarron Parish, County Donegal, Ireland about 1806, and their descendants after relocating to Inverness, Quebec Province, Canada in May 1844. Patrick & Jane had 8 children - James, Mary, Catherine, Jane, John, Elizabeth (Bessie), Samuel and Finlay. The latter two sons, Samuel and Finlay, had the most extensive offspring - all born to them in Meganitc County, Quebec and now, for the most part, spread accross the United States. Samuel married Eliza Orr in 1855 and had 11 children (married names in parentheses) - Albert Benton, Celicia Deecher, Elizabeth Fletcher (Howe), Harriet Jane Baker), William Orr, Mary Selina (Youlen), Martha Annie (Doren), John Arthur, Edmund Stewart, James Finley, and Georgre Norman. Finlay married Hannah Lambly and had 9 children - Allan Wiles, Mary Ann (McKee), James Finley, John Percival, Alexander Bankier, Walter Ousley, Clementine Jane (Majaury), Osborn Lambly, and Annie Finch (Robinson). Subsequent surnames include Suitor, Lane, Mohr, Pederson, Brewer, Cooney, Whitlock, Merrow, Sergent, Willis, Chandler, Beattie, Bertrand and more. Would like to make this Home Page a central source for sharing family data amongst all interested parties - both as to the past generations and for the future generations. Would also like to make a documented connection between this and two other Wark family trees, those descending from Joseph Wark/Jane McCullough and from William Wark/Letitia Dever. The origins of Patrick, Joseph and William all remain a mystery - we know Patrick and William are related but we don't know how; we suspect Joseph is also related since they all came from Kilbarron Parish, County Donegal, Ireland to area around Inverness/Leeds in Megantic County, Quebec during the same time period. Putting these three family trees together, if possible, would be wonderful!
