December 2000. Begun family history research thanks to some correspondance left to my father Ivor Warne, by his Aunt Mary. It appears that the family were living at Woodsford Castle in Dorset during the nineteenth century. I have details as far back as Joseph Warne, married to Eliza and the births and baptisms of their four children. I have yet to secure the link through my great grandfather to my grandfather. Other family members, notably my aunt, have documentation and a second cousin is carrying out research as well. It is early days and I have made no attempt yet to search census records or to track down birth, marriage and death certificates. The internet has proved a useful starting point but clearly there is systematic dectective work to do. I am the last Warne in this line of the family and would like to find out as much as possible about earlier generations. It also seems likely that the women who married into the Warne family are interesting people and that daughters of Warnes were pioneering women. There are many stories in the family about previous generations and I am attempting to document these and then check them out. I anticipate visiting places the family lived and worked.
