Albert Gustav Voss was born in Altenplaten, Prussia on January 11,1852. He lived there until he was 18 years old and came to America via Texas with his brother, Hermann. When he arrived here he made his living as a farmer's helper until he obtained enough money to purchase some land of his own around the Zorn/Staples area located between Seguin and San Marcos, Texas.
On March 14, 1873, he married Frederica Dietert borned in Prussia on June 16,1853 and came to America with her parents, Fritz, Sr/Marie (Dreibrodt) Dietert.
Albert and Frederica had 9 children: Louisa, Hedwig, Willie, Richard, Minna, Alma, Marie, Bertha and Albert, Jr.
Albert died April 18,1917 at the age of 65 years; Frederica died September 30, 1936 at the age of 81 years. They are both buried at the Zorn Cementery.
