My grandfather John O'Reilly was born in Paisley in Scotland but his father Thomas O'Reilly and Bridget came over from Ireland in 1862 or thereabouts. Bridget's maiden name was Joyce and I think she was born in Westport, County Mayo, Eire. I am not sure where Thomas O'Reilly was born as I do not have the records. They were married in the 1854's in Westport County Mayo. They had three children there Mariah,Stephen and Austin. They also had Eiffay,Margaret,Bridget and my grandfather John who married Mary McLean in Edinburgh in the late 1866.Maria was born in 1855 2nd September, Stephen born 1858 -he worked in Coates Mill, Austin was born in 1855 28 August, Eiffey (male) born in Paisley 1862 - cannot find his death,Margaret born in Paisley 1864 and Bridget born on 3 November 1865 and died on 28 January 1867 in Paisley. Mariah or Maria Reilly died on 27 Jauary 1889 in Paisley she was single and lived in Well Street, Paisley. The first address in Paisley was 2 West Brae.Paisley. The O'Reilly sometimes is shown as O'Riley. Margaret O'Reilly - the sister of Thomas O'Reilly married on 19 February 1871 in Westpost, County May, Eire - the parish was Aughagower - Thomas O'Malley and their address was Derryilrea, Aughagower.Westport County Mayo. They had 8 children Brigid born 14 February, 1875, Catherine born 20 April 1876, Margaret 23 July 1881, Patrick, 8 April 1883, Anne 12 April 1885, Michael Joseph 21November 1886, Sarah 9 August 1891, and their address was the above. They may have had other children. Thomas O'Malley was born in County Mayo. The witnesses at their marriage were John O'Reilly and Bridget O'Reilly. My great grandmother and my great grandfather's brother. Most of Thomas' family ie brothers went to America but Thomas came over to Paisley with his three children. My great grandmother Bridget O'Reilly(or Reilly) died on 9 July 1879 her address being given as 3 Silk Street, Paisley. I cannot find out anything else either about the family in Ireland or my great-grandfather Thomas, Eiffey, Stephen and Margaret. The only child to come to Edinburgh was John my grandfather and I have the history from thereon.
