W.I.A. is a private project focused on expanding the existing knowledge as it relates to the forebears and descendants of John Helmuth David Warneke and Olive Pearl Smith. John and Olive were married in St Paul's Church, Pt Adelaide, South Australia and had seven children over the following fourteen years. For at least seven years, they lived in the Pt Adelaide (possibly all that time in Clare Street which is now an industrial area).
After Pt Adelaide, they eked a living at Moorlands before moving to a property at Jervois where they operated a dairy farm. Life was not to be easy however, Pearl died in 1930 and to try and make ends meet, JHD Warneke opened a green grocers in Adelaide that his daughter Rita would operate on a day-to-day basis.
Around 1932 JHD did not return from a trip to the Adelaide business and later changed his name to John Helmuth Griffiths and until his death in 1953, he had very little more to do with his children.
