We have information gathered from written family history by Sam's brothers, Theodore (Ted) Watson and Frank Watson. Using these rememberances as a starting point we contacted various State offices in Oklahoma, Kansas and Kentucky for information. In addition we contacted the Department of Veterans affairs and were successful in obtaining copies of many documents includinig the following for John Watson, Sam's grandfather. Induction papers into the Union Army in Ky. in 1862, prisoner of war documents and copy of deed to his farm in Green County Ky.
Other documents on hand are marriage license and certificate John Watson and Nancy Whitlow in Ky in 1860. Copy of 1880 census records. Pension application for veterans of the war of the rebellion and widows benefits filed by Nancy Watson (Johns) wife.
Our goal at this point is to identify the home town of John Watson who was born in Ireland in 1828 and gather as much information of that era as possible. We currently have much information on Sam's five children, Shirley, Donald, Calvin, Raymond, & Sharon and thier offspring. This will be added to the family tree info as time allows.
