Will of Matthew Duncan July 18, 1898 Know all men by these presents that I Matthew Duncan of the County of Anderson State of Kentucky do hereby make and publish the following as my true last will and testament hereby making all former wills by me heretofore made.
Item 1 - It is my will and desire that my son Kirby Duncan shall have a horse, saddle and bridle of the value of one hundred dollars, and he is not is not to be charged this much in the division of my estate hereafter made.
Item 2 - After the payment of the desire to my son Kirby as above stated and after the payments of all my just debts and burial expenses I will and bequeath to my beloved wife Maria Duncan all the estate of any kind and description of which I may dispossess to be held, used and enjoyed by her so long as she remains my widow, and at her death or the termination of her widowhood it is my desire that whatever of said property may be remaining shall descend to and not in my children and their descendents according to the law of descents and distribution of the State of Kentucky, share and share alike subject to the following advancements which I have heretofore made to wit to my daughter Martha Alice Bixler, twenty dollars for a saddle. One hundred dollars to my daughter Mary Jane Hawkins. _____ horse saddle and bridle and one hundred dollars to my deceased daughter Susan Eliza Robinson for a horse saddle and bridle, which amounts are to be deducted from the shares of said Martha Alice Bixler, Mary Jane Hawkins and the children of my said deceased daughter Susan Eliza Robinson. I desire that my son Kirby Duncan shall live with his mother and take care of her as long as she may live and this he has promised to do. In witness whereof I have hereunto subscribed my name this 18th day of July 1898.

State of Kentucky J H S Wise, Clerk of the Anderson County Court - Certify that as its July term held July 17 - 1899 The foregoing writing here porting to be the last will and testament of Matthew Duncan, deceased, was introduced in Court and provided by the oaths of J.
