Notes for Addison C Blacketer: Obituary: TS Wed May 18, 1898 AD. BLACKETER Kicked by a Horse and Instantly Killed A most sudden and horrible death occurred near Stewart in this county Sunday morning about nine o'clock. Mr. Ad. Blacketer, a prominent farmer and an old federal soldier who fought bravely through the civil war, was currying his horse preparatory to going to church when the animal kicked him on the thigh. Mr. Blacketer then hit the horse with a board and was kicked again just over the heart and never breathed another breath. The family were almost overcome by the dreadful sight that met their eyes and the screams of his loving wife raised the whole neighborhood. The yard was soon full of people ready and willing to do whatever could be done for the consolation of those that had been so suddenly bereft. Mr Blacketer had been married twice. His first wife was a Miss Martin, who preceded him to the grave many years ago. His last wife was a Miss Coyle and in happy union they lived many years, and the sudden shock caused by her husband's death will weigh heavily upon her in her declining years. Deceased was between fifty and sixty years of age and had been for several years an active and devout member of the Baptist Church and his beautiful christian example will be greatly missed in the community in which he spent his life. The funeral services were held at the residence Monday morning and the remains were interred in the family burying ground beside his wife who preceded him to the grave.
Addison is buried in a "cemetery located four and one-half miles off KY hwy 150 on Coyle Road. Located on the Boyle County and Washington County line. Turn at the Beech Grove Baptist Church." [USGEN Web Archives transcribed by Marie Case Crain - marky@kih.net for posting]
In 1973 Omar Blacketer found and described this cemetery as "a small cemetery known as the Bottom Cemetery on Deep Creek Road. It is just below and on the opposite side of the road from the 'Best" cemetery. It is on the border of Washington & Mercer counties. It is over-grown with weeds, briars and trees."
