William Leech (son of John Leech and Sarah (Collins ?) Leech) was born Abt. 1775 in Spartanburg County, South Carolina, and died June 06, 1836 in Texas - killed in action. He married (1) Mary Watson on 1798. He married (2) Rachel Cravens on 1823 in Mississippi.
Notes for William Leech: William Leech was living in Livingston County, Kentucky when his father, John, died in 1779 in South Carolina. William later moved his family and settled in Mississippi. His brother David, who never married, moved with William to Mississippi. They were among the first white settlers in the town of O' Possum, which was mainly inhabited by Choctaw Indians. William built his house on the east side to the Tombeckbea river where he ran a grist mill. He served as one of the town's first commissioners.
In 1831 William migrated to Shelby County, Texas. He served in the Independence of Texas Was from February 22, 1836 until June 6, 1836 when he was killed in battle.
