John Leech resided in Barren County, Kentucky by 1779 when his father died. John Leech gave power of attorney to his brother, David Leech of Livingston County, Kentucky, to sell his property in South Carolina and receive his monies.

SPARTANBURG COUNTY, SOUTH CAROLINA RECORDS:

Know all men by these presents that David Leech, for myself, for John Leech, Joseph Leech, John Vaughn, Samuel Underwood and Lemuel Loftis, all of the state of South Carolina and district of Spartanburg, except John Leech, William Leech and James Leech whose residence to the power given to David Leech is referred, in consideration of the sun of $150 to us paid by Alex.Thompson. A tract of land or parcel of land containing 200 acres more or less lying on Middle Tyger River below the Ancient Boundary line beginning at the br. Daniel Evan's line, across the river dam, thence to the beginning, the same original grant to John Leech Sr., deceased, with a plot annexed to the grant, etc. November 4, 1802. Witness: Alex Jordan, James Jorman, John Collins,JP. Signed by: David Leech, Sarah Leech, Joseph Leech, John Vaughn, Samuel Underwood, Lemuel Loftis.
