In 1812, Thomas-#1 GAVICAN married Elizabeth BEIRNE in Boyle, County Roscommon, IRL. Had five sons: Richard-1818, Thomas-#2 -1822, Edward-1825, James-1827 & Robert-1830. Robert emigrated in 1847; his surname was changed to GAVAGAN & he married Mary A. LYNCH, daughter of Ellen (?) & Michael LYNCH of Ireland, in Boston, MA - 1859. Raised 9 chidren. Robert died 1899; Mary died 1919. Son Thomas-#2 GAVAGAN moved to Providence, RI, married Bessie TAGUE (Montague), daughter of Isabel (MCELROY) & Edward TAGUE. Two sons born: Thomas-#3 (1911) and James (1912). Thomas-#3 married Mildred A. SULLIVAN, New Bedford, MA, & James married Helen Alukonis, Providence, RI.
In 1858, in Ireland, Mary (b.1835), daughter of Mary & Thomas O'CONNOR, married John G. SULLIVAN (b.1826), son of Catherine (SULLIVAN) & Jeremiah SULLIVAN, probably in County Cork. Three children born in Ireland: Mary-1860, Hannah-1862 & James-1864.
SULLIVANs emigrated to New York in mid-1860s, moved to PA, CT, RI & MA. Settled permanently in New Bedford, MA in 1880s. In the U.S., Joseph-1871, Stephen-1873 & Joanna-1875 were born.
Joseph married Ada WOOLLEY, daughter of Isabella (FISH) & John WOOLLEY, and daughter, Mildred A. SULLIVAN (Gavagan), was born in 1911.
