Margaret Wallace (daughter of Isam Wallace and Mary (Polly) Jones) was born 19 January 1824 in Randolph, IN, USA, and died 16 December 1894 in Aken Twp, Richland, WI, USA. She married William W. Vance on 08 January 1846 in Randolph, IN, USA, son of Vance.

Margaret Wallace is the paternal grandmother of Jennie Vance. She is the child of Isam Wallace and Mary [Polly] Jones of North Carolina. Sometime after the marriage, this couple moved westward, to have all of their children born in the state of Indiana.
Knowledge of Margaret's ancestral family started with the parents' marriage in Surry Co, NC [1] They [her parents and a brother-in-law as well as a sister] moved to Indiana late 1823, and later moved to WI sometime in the year of 1856. [2]
Margaret Wallace, is reported to be of Scotch-Irish heritage. She was one of eleven children, the second born to the family unit. All of these children were born in Randolph Cty., Indiana.
Five of these children were boys, and four of those boys died in the Civil War, at ages of 20 to 35--in Kentucky, Mississippi, Tennessee, and Arkansas. All of them died in 1863, in July, August, and November. Three of the four married and had children [a total of ten].
In addition to being born in Indiana, she was married to William Vance in Randolph County , Indiana. They were married on 8 January, 1846.
They had eight children, with the third one being William C. Vance. These children are displayed under the section herein devoted to William C. Vance.
The notes [3] say that death certificates for Margaret and her husband did not give detailed information on parents names nor the place of birth of them. All we know is that her parents were born in NC and married there in 1822.
Margaret Wallace died and is buried in Richland Cty., WI.
