George Henry Mudd Family of Springfield,KY African-American

About Our Family Research


I am currently researching my family which is the Mudd's whom are African American who are from Kentucky. George Henry Mudd is my Maternal great-great grandfather. He was the son of Allen Jacob and Celia Mudd. He was born in Springfield, Kentucky in 1850. His siblings were Harrison Mudd, Caroline Mudd, Charles Mudd(Civil War Veteran), Jacob Jr.(also known as Jack; he was a Civil War Veteran). George Henry Mudd was a slave of John Donatus Mudd of Springfield, Kentucky. George Henry married Marie Melvenia(Melda) McCalster and they had the following children: Raymond, George Bernard, James "Dink", Edward Lawrence, John,Josie(married Will Elery), Geneveive (married Clell Smith), Celia (married John Spalding).
