I have been researching my family since last January 2007. I think I have done pretty good in finding information. Most of my family I know. I have searched death records, birth records, marriage records, and census records. Some things are hard to find.
On my mothers side, which is the Maxbauer side, I have found out quite a bit. That was her Fathers name, John Anthony Maxbauer. I have also found my Grandmothers side, The Stites Family. Their is alot of information about them.
Both of them came from the Traverse City area, and Acme area. So I don't have to much of a problem there.
Now on my Dad's side I cannot find alot of information about them. My Grandfathers name is Norman J. Gilbert. He was from the Hamlin-Cadillac-Ludington area. My Grandmother was from the same area. Her name is Lillian Barnhart. I cannot find anything on them. Its so frustrating when you can't find anything. But I will keep looking.
I did find my grandfathers registration into the Army for World War 1. But thats it. I thought this was going to be easy, but its not as easy as I thought.
I have records in my Bible that i have been recording for some time. I also have Memorial Cards from relatives that have passed away. But not alot.
I am hoping this will help me alot.
