The Werts family has been here since the early 1700's. Here in Preble county came Samual Werts a civil union solider at Sugar Grove Cemetary. The Werts family dates back to the 1815's here in Preble County where family records can be found at the Eaton City Court House.

Other Union Civil War solider is David Werts, World War II Dole Werts, and many other Werts famiy members can be found here in Preble County Ohio
