Research of ROBERT PATRICK WHALEN, (Born February 22, 1889 in Airdrie, Glasgow, Scotland; died January 16, 1948 in Curry Hollow Road, Dravosburg, Pennsylvania) of parents ROBERT WHALIN (born July 25, 1857; died March 25, 1908 in Airdrie, Scotland) and ELIZABETH MCGUIRK(born January 09, 1857 in Airdrie, Scotland; died July 21, 1949 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania) ROBERT WHALIN and ELIZABETH MCGUIRK married June 20, 1885 in St. Margaret's church in Airdrie, Glasgow, Scotland .ELIZABETH MCGUIRK is the daughter of THOMAS MACGUIRK and MARY BARRET (married July 09, 1854 in Glasgow, Scotland). ELIZABETH MCGUIRK was previously married to DENNIS CURRIE in 1873. They had two children MARY and ELIZABETH. DENNIS CURRIE died in 1879. ROBERT WHALIN is the son of PATRICK WHALEN and JULIA BALMRICK (ALSO BAMRICK, AND BAMMERICK)(married September 26, 1856 at St. Margaret's Church in Airdrie, Scotland). ROBERT WHALIN was previously married to MARY SHEVLIN in Scotland. They had one son, PATRICK. MARY SHEVLIN died in Scotland.

ROBERT PATRICK WHALEN emigrated from Glasgow, Scotland to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1910 on the CALEDONIA. He was accompanied by his sister, JULIA WHALEN MCPAUL, and her two children, ROBERT and BERNARD. JULIA'S HUSBAND, JAMES MCPAUL, preceeded her on the Vessel Caledonia on May 01, 1910. ROBERT and JULIA's brothers: JAMES and JOHN emigrated in 1911. Finally, their mother, ELIZABETH MCGUIRK WHALEN, their brother WILLIAM and sisters, CATHERINE and ANN followed in 1912. The only one to remain in Scotland was their brother THOMAS who continued to live in Glasgow, Scotland. When the WHALEN'S arrived in Pittsburgh, they lived with YNINA MCGUIRK PHILLIPS, who was the daughter of ELIZABETH MCGUIRK WHALEN'S brother, THOMAS MCGUIRK, who emigrated to Pittsburgh, Pa. in 1882 on the vessel STATE OF NEBRASKA.

ROBERT PATRICK WHALEN married KATHERINE CECELIA BOYCE (born March 15, 1891 in the Boyce family homestead in Curry Hollow
Road, Dravosburg - named Amity then - Pennsylvania; died October 02, 1962 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania). ROBERT WHALEN and KATHERINE BOYCE were married on June 03, 1915 in Sacred Heart Church in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. After ROBERT PATRICK WHALEN'S death (January 16, 1948 in Curry Hollow), KATHERINE BOYCE WHALEN married JOHN FEY on October 06, 1956. JOHN FEY died, February 12, 1957 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania.

KATHERINE BOYCE is the daughter of DANIEL BOYCE (born December 1847 in Donegal County, Ireland; died December 20, 1922 in Curry Hollow Road) and MARY KENNY (born February 12, 1861 in Glasgow Scotland; died may 02, 1925 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania)

DANIEL BOYCE is the son of DONAL BOYCE and MARY BOYLE (born 1817 in Ireland; died March 05, 1904 in McKeesport, Pennsylvania). DANIEL BOYCE emigrated to this country in the 1880's with his mother, MARY BOYLE BOYCE, and two brothers, JOHN BOYCE and JAMES BOYCE.
MARY BOYLE BOYCE was the aunt of Bishop Hugh C. Boyle (born October 8, 1873 in what was Cambria City; now part of Johnstown. He was ordained into the priesthood in 1898). He died as Bishop of Pittsburgh on December 23, 1950. Bishop Boyle was the first to celebrate a Silver Jubilee as Bishop in 1946.

We are currently researching County Laois in Ireland for the birth of ROBERT WHALIN'S parents PATRICK WHALIN (WHELAN)(born 1834) AND JULIA BAMRICK (BALMRICK, BAMMERICK) (born 1836).

We are currently researching County Donegal in Ireland for the birth of MARY BOYLE, DANIEL BOYCE, JOHN BOYCE, JAMES BOYCE and the birth and death of DONAL BOYCE.
