Family roots are in Yorkshire County of northern England.Our Grandfather Francis William Whitteron and his wife Margaret (Nee Stewart)homesteaded in S.E Saskatchewan - Canada in 1905
They had initially taken out a homestead in North Dakota near The Town of Westhope. Grandfather was a partner in a butcher shop in Westhope as well as being a farmer.

Francis William Whitteron was born in Boroughbridge,Yorkshire UK in 1873 and came to North America in 1879 and came to his older brother Charles Edward Whitteron who had homesteaded just east of Bottineau ND in what was later named Whitteron Twp.

Francis and Margaret were married in Bottineau ND in 1898 and their first child Marjorie was born there in 1900. Son Donald and daughter Frances were born after the move to Sakatchewan.
