from the Lincoln Sentinel-Republican, May 10, 1945: Beverly --- The community was saddened Friday morning by the passing of Mrs. Sarah Buttermore that morning at about five o'clock. Mrs. Buttermore was a long time resident of this community. She will be missed greatly and her family have the sympathy of Beverly people as well as surrounding neighbors.
from the Lincoln Sentinel-Republican, May 10, 1945: Mrs. Sarah Buttermore Sarah Elizabeth Rhoads was born on a farm near Ft. Wayne, Indiana, October 6, 1864. She departed this life May 5, 1945, at her home in Beverly, Kansas, at the age of 80 years, six months, and 29 days. Her early life was spent in Indiana, coming to Kansas with her parents in 1877. She was united in marriage to Henry L. Buttermore September 28, 1882. To this union were born nine children, one of whom died in infancy. Her husband preceded her in death eighteen years ago. She was a member of the Beverly Community church and attended services regularly until the time of her death. She leaves to mourn her departure, eight children, four brothers, four sisters, twenty-two grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. She was a devoted mother --- no sacrifice being too great for her to make in behalf of her family.
