I am just getting started in researching my family. My father was born in Surry Co., North Carolina and migrated to McDowell Co. West Virginia and retired and died in Mercer Co., West Virginia. His name was John Blaine Smith. His parents were Bruce Gordon Smith and Minnie Alice Hill.
My mother was born in Tazwell Co., Va. Her father alos migrated from North Carolina, John Clemens Lanier. He passed away in 1943. He married Hattie Kate Billips. I have recovered, from the net, pictures and information on my grandmother's family.
