Widgers of the World

Updated July 11, 2004

About Our Family Research

Hello everyone,
My name is Emma Widger and my strain of Widger originates from Devon,England.
It is said one of my wealthy ancestors turned fanatically religeous, turning his back on his family calling them all heathens, when he died he left his entire fortune to Broadwood Church. As a sign of appriciation the church was re-named Broadwoodwidger (there are postcards of this church available there).
I am told that Widger is mentioned in the Doomsday Book but haven't seen it for myself.
Someone somewhere believes that one of my ancestors gave birth to a bastard child of the King (Edward I think) who knows?
Anyway my Grandad is Byron Allonzo Widger, partnered by my Grandma Frances Victoria Torrens. They had 7 children together (John, Gillian, Richard, Anne, Sarah AKA Sally, Velia and Philip) one of which died (Philip) at 18/19 years of age. He drowned whilst saving his best friends life.
Should you think we are related I would love to hear from you so that I can build up my family history.
Best regards
Emma
xXx
