Johann B. Ottinger (son of Johann Jacob Ottinger and Anna Johanna Josey (Josi)) was born September 22, 1755, and died October 13, 1859 in Greene Co Tenn. He married Margaret Detterman.

John Ottinger, fought in the battle of Germantown during the Revolution War.
He served six months as a Prvt. released and was called again
and served in the Quartermaster corp in charge of wagons. He received honorable
discharges both times

In the war of 1812 he served as a fifer in the Army of General Andrew Jackson.

It is said that at the age of 98 he split 100 rails a day for a rail fence.

An Ottinger has served in the military service of the United States in ever war through 1986
