Anthony and Pamela Frost and their four young daughters sailed via 'assisted passage' on the Strathaird from Tilbury Docks, London, to Adelaide, South Australia in August-September 1959.
Anthony had grown up in Harrow, Middlesex, the eldest son of Phillip Henry and Ada Elizabeth (Babs)Frost. Phillip and Ada also emigrated to Australia in 1965, settling in Gisborne, Victoria.
Pamela was the eldest daughter of Frank and Frances Hammond, also of Harrow, Middlesex. Pamela's brothers, Frank and Melvyn, later emigrated to Perth in Western Australia.
I am the eldest daughter of Anthony and Pamela and I have been researching both sides of my family for the past 2 years. My search began after the death of my grandmother, Nanny Babs. I wish I had thought to ask her more questions about the family before she died.
The Frost side of the family has proven difficult to research as my grandfather was orphaned at an early age. I have found his father and mother, William and Esther Frost in the 1901 Census, listing William's birhtplace as Northamptonshire. I know that his grandfather was also William Frost, from William and Esther's marriage certificate. However, I cannot find the family in the 1881 census. I believe that both Esther and William were old enough to be working away from home.
If you find a connection with my family, please email me and I will be happy to share information and greetings with you.
