I have just recently started looking for my family members. I know that the majority of my ancestors lived in the Waterloo area. They arrived sometime in the early 1700s. They were Menonites and they farmed in that area. My great grandfather stopped being a Menonite because he did not like the lifestyle. He wanted to become more modernized. His name was Samuel Gehman Wismer. His parents were John Wismer and Susannah Gehman. He was born in 1892. Married Catherine Anne Bell. He worked as a janitor at the local school and worked his way up to be the Secretary Treasurer of the School Board in Waterloo. They had four children named Vern (who died in WW1), Jack, Stewart, and Margaret(Marg). My grandfather was Stewart Wismer. He was born on June 6, 1918 in Toronto, Ontario. He married Hazel May Talor. Her parents were Edwin Taylor and Elizabeth Abra. She was born on October 29, 1920 in Galt, Ontario. They had three sons named David Laverne Wismer, Doug Gordon Wismer and James Stewart Wismer(died as a young child). If anyone out there knows these people (whether friends or family) that can help me to further my searchings it would be wonderful.
