I have been researching the family of my Dad, Alton "Short" Davis since 2000. My family and I have been overwhelmed by the amount of information that we have found. It appears that every line except one in our paternal & maternal line had individuals who were confederate soldiers. Some of those individuals died in the war, some came home to tell the tale. I have recently enlisted the aid of my brother and borrowed his cheek cells and had a DNA test done. I have found that most of my research has been confirmed. My next project will be mtdna, my maternal line. I can't wait to see the results. We are going through a very exciting time in the quest for our ancestors with DNA testing. If you are a budding geneologist and want to find other members of your family, I strongly advise spending the money to do it.
