I have been tracing my family name--WOFFORD--and have discovered that John Wofford with a number of grandchildren and one son, my Great Grandfather-John P.-, moved from Alabama to Fannin County, Texas, in the early 1850s. He is listed in the 1850 census in Limestone Co. Alabama and in the 1860 census in Fannin Co. Texas. John P. and his wife Rebecca had two boys born in Ala. and the oldest born in Texas was 7 in the 1860 census.
Most of John (W)'s grandchildren living with him are children of a son, Andrew and his wife Mildreth, who died before they left Ala.
I think John (W) was the youngest son of Benjamin Wofford of S.C. the youngest of the 5 Wofford boys in Spartenburg, S.C. I am researching in that direction. I CAN USE ALL THE HELP I CAN GET.
