About Our Family Research

My GG Grandfather, Gottlieb Woiderski left Germany in 1885. Gottlieb often joked with his family because he was tired of eating potatoes and herring. They settled in Moran, Mi. and then moved to Inverness township, Cheboygan, Mich. He married Anna Socha who was from the same Germany also. They had 6 children, John, Martha, Nettie, Mary, and William. William married Lucy Kurkowicz who was born in Zeban, Germany, on Oct.31, 1899. They had 13 Children. In March 1922, William bottled the first quart of milk and founded the Inverness Dairy. The first day of business, eight quarts of milk were delivered by horse and sleigh. Horses and milk wagons were used to deliver the milk until 1941 when trucks replaced the horses. Children of William and Lucy were Fred, Henry, Irvin, William, Robert,Carl, Raymond, Edith (Schmidt),Ann (Moore-Freyhof),Gertrude (Bur), Thelma (Lake)Margaret (Carlson) and Gladys(Myers). In 1945 four sons took over the dairy, Fred, Bob, Bill and Carl. William Sr. helped construct two Churches for St.Thomas. When the present one was built in 1952, he was 74.
