Many of our early lines were of French Huguenot extraction; and came to this New World to seek out religious freedom. Some arrived in the very earliest part of 1700 in Jamestown, in the Colony of Virginia. Others arrived as early as 1678 on the shores of The Colony of Carolina; at present day Charleston. The earliest Huguenot Church in Charleston was founded by and overseen by the Rev. Pierre ROBERT. This part is definately documented. The Rev. Pierre ROBERT and his family were the first of the ROBERT line into the New World and though the names are now spelled differently in some cases; many, many families trace their kinship back to the First Huguenot Emigrants into the Province of Carolina. I am very proud to be able to document my lineage directly back to this outstanding family.
