This page is dedicated to expanding upon the genealogical research carried out and documented by Patrick M.O. Evans in his work titled "The Wrights - A Genealogical study of the first Settlers in Canada's National Capital Region" published by the National Capital Commission in 1978.
Deacon John Wright is the patriarch of the North American Wright family. He came to North America in 1630 from Kent, England and settled in the Woburn, Massachusetts area.
His great great grandson, Philemon, together with his wife, Abigail Wyman, their children and three other families, including his brother Thomas, trekked into the wilds of British North America (Lower Canada) and established a settlement that, over time, flourished into what is now Hull, Quebec. Philemon and his family were instrumental in the development of the Ottawa/Hull region.
The goal is to produce a family tree that encompasses not only the families related directly to the Wright's but also those families that inter-married with them.
If you are interested in this project, have information related to the family or know of other sites, organizations etc dedicated to the geneaology of the Wrights, please contact me at the email below.
