The Demetropoulos Connection

Updated July 5, 2006

About Our Family Research

Welcome to the first Web site dedicated to the Demetropoulos surname! I was once prone to disappointment by the lack of existing research on this name. Since that time, however, I have learned to appreciate these inspiring words by Ralph Waldo Emerson, which have become my motto, "Do not go where the path may lead; go instead where there is no path and leave a trail."

What initially started twelve years ago as a feeble attempt to locate my grandfather, Nicholas Demetropoulos, has turned into a burning desire to write a book that includes detailed information about the history of several Demetropoulos lines in Massachusetts, Illinois, Virginia, Rhode Island, and Alabama. Every days brings me closer to that dream. The journey has been arduous, but sweet, and I have connected in many ways with memebers of the greater Demetropoulos family along the way.

If this site helps you connect with a Demetropoulos, past or present, it has met its purpose. The thought that we are all really part of the same human family, surnames and cultures aside, is quite a sobering thought, but the more we ponder its meaning and let it become a part of us, the more we are inclined to treat everyone like the brothers and sisters that we are.

Please enjoy your stay at the Demetropoulos Connection, and remember to visit often. Any additions or corrections that you can provide would be most appreciated.

Warmest regards,
Kevin Patrick Wright
