My father was Letcher Dow Campbell and I have been able to go back to my great great great grandfather John Campbell, wife Catherine born 1756. I have not been able to find his birthplace yet. He had a son James born in Berkely County Virginia 1776. My grandmother Columbia A Smith was born in Roane County 1856. Her parents William Smith and wife Eda were both born in Virginia.Many of the Campbell family were in Phillipi and Buckhannon West Virginia. I would not be surprised to find some Indian back in our family history.
