I have been researching the Wymbs name for some time. I have been able to contact other Wymbs' from around the world. There are still a large number of Wymbs' living in Scottland, Ireland, England, Germany and America. From the info I've gathered the name can be traced back as far as 673. The Wymbs name has many variations of the spelling. Some are Wymbs, Wemyss, Weems, Wemys, Wemes, Wimms, Wyms, and Wimes. Originally a Pictish race traveling from France to the British Isles, Scottland and Ireland. The family name Wymbs emerged as a Scottish Clan and a leading sept of the Clan MacDuff and the ancient Earls of Fife from which they are descended.
As an ongoing research project for my daughter I am looking to find as much history of the name as possible. (family crests, coat of arms, related findings, historical images/photos are all welcome as there seems to be many.) Any person with knowledge is gladly welcome to share.
