ROSHIER (alternative spelling -ROSHER)is an unusual surname. Separated from my father's family at a very young age, I have never met another Roshier until very recently. Consequently, I believed that I was perhaps the only Roshier in the world!
I do believe that I may be the only person EVER registered as Wynne-Roshier.
In February 2000 I began researching my paternal origins, starting with nothing but my own birth name (Gail Wynne-Roshier) and the knowledge that my parents were married in Burma in 1947. Both were members of HM forces, and part of the Burma and Hiroshima / Nagasaki rescue force.
I experienced some initial difficulties, as I began searching for Wynne-Roshiers, of whom it seems there is only me! However, once I discovered my true patronymic, I began making great progress.
I am informed that the names Roshier and Cazneaux may be of French Huguenot origin.
