The Yates,Mitchell,Hood,both Walkers,all three sets of Self and Fail come from the same general are of North & South Carolnia.Both the Fail & Hood come from Landcaster,SC.and both settled in the same distric of Blount Co.about the same time. Only the Marsh were different.They come from North Umberland,Va.dateing back to the 1750's. The Yates & one set of Walker are Carolina Cherokee listed on the 1850's US Indian rolls.Great Grandfather William R.Yates used four different last names(1860 census & Civil War Service Record Yates),( 1850 census Yeats),( 1870 census Yeates)&(1880 census Yats).
