In 1992 I started my family history I opened many wonderful doors to a very honorably family that came from England and settled in Virginia then to East Tennessee where they owned Adkins Hotel, Adkins Mountain which is now home to Elk that are protected by the Federal Gov. in Morgan Co they had Adkins Mill. This family has known the heart ache of losing 13 family members May 9 1902 in the Fraterville Mine Explosion. They saw the state go union in the civil war and two of my great great great cousins who were brothers fought in it. They were captured at Rogersville.Parnick and Mynatt Adkins were the brothers. Parnick was a 2nd Lt and Mynatt died in the Confederate prison camo in Andersonville Ga.. Their father Levi was a Baptist preacher and is buried in Bethel Baptist Church cem in Clinton Tn. This is a family I am very proud of.
