Researching JOHNSON family of Hemel Hempstead in Herts. England.
My grandfather was JAMES JOHNSON born 1872 Hemel Hempstead, son of JOHN JOHNSON and ELLEN SULLIVAN. He emigrated to South Africa in about 1897, met and married my grandmother in Cape Town and had 4 children, of which my father JAMES JOHNSON is the only son. My grandfather died in Hartley, Southern Rhodesia (now Zimbabwe) in March 1909 aged 37 yrs. My main area of research lies in my grandfather's parents - John and Ellen Johnson and his siblings. John Johnson was born in Perry, Northants and Ellen Sullivan was born in County Cork, Ireland.
