Starting Sept. 30, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum
message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles
will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will
no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.
In about 1974, I contacted my great aunt (sister to my paternal grandmother) who gave some good information to start my research. This was very important as my father lost his mother at 9 months of age. He was raised by his father and stepmother with very little contact with his mother's family. He knew little of her family.h Since that day, I have been "hooked" on genealogy. I have been to libraries, archives both federal and state and town/city halls. I have had great luck in finding previously unknown family members on line. They have been a wealth of information. It's been great to exchange information. Today I have 10 generations in my grandmother's family. The names I research are ROCHE, DORSEY, POWER(S), GAVIN, HOAR, QUIRK, KENNEDY, LYSAGHT, AND JORDAN.
