I know my great-grandfather Alfonso Zarrelli came to the US in 1892 with his brothers Rocco and Luigi, who both later returned to Italy. They were from Monacilioni, near Campobasso, where Zarrellis still live, I understand. I was recently contacted by a Sergio Zarelli who lives in Milan but was born in Campobasso. Some branches of the family dropped an R from the name somewhere along the line. There's a senator from Washington state named Joseph Zarelli, or there was recently.
I would love to find any information on Rocco and Luigi and the rest of my great-grandfather's family. Alfonso's parents were, I believe, Nicola fu Luigi Zarrelli and Giuseppa da Iosue. When Luigi died, Giuseppa put her daughters in an orphanage and "gave" her sons to their uncles so they could learn trades. Alfonso, Rocco, and Luigi became stonemasons.
I did recently get a little extra information about Alfonso's family tree, through his father's line. And was given a copy of his brother Luigi's marriage certificate (to Arcangela Martino).
