I was born Alexander James Daniel McGruer. My partner is David McCurley. Together we have a very large extended family. However, there are missing links. In particular:
I am looking for my father and his family. My father is Robert Alexander McGruer. I know that he was born in Buckie, Banffshire, Scotland. His first wife is Jenny. They had two children, my half siblings, called Iain and Fiona. I also have a younger half sibling called Paul from another relationship my father had. He lives in Maine, United States.
My partner's mother, Margaret, is looking for her half siblings. Her father is Andrew Bruce McVey. His first wife is Elizabeth. Her maiden name is Shorthouse. Elizabeth had four children - Andrew, William, Thomas and Jean. It is believed that Elizabeth emigrated from Scotland to Canada with her children.
So far, all searches have proved unfruitful but hopefully someone might read this and be able to help.
