The variations of surname ZHILIN, ZILIONIS, ZILENAS, GELINAS originated about 300 years ago from a lake ZHILI in Oshmena,Belarus.Somebody writes that some duke Zhilin lived in 16th century,but I did not find any Zhilin in the encyclopedia of Russian nobles. I made up a genealogical table only of descendants of my greatgrandfather Zilionis Jurgis. My greatgreatgrandfather Zhilin is described in "The Prisoner of Caucasus" by L.Tolstoy. Some members of this family are described in Lith.and Russian encyclopedias. They must be our relatives,because my grandfather mentioned them. Some our relatives assumed French surname GELINAS. I am looking for relatives who are interested in family history.
