Rafael Perez de Luna Sr. was born on September 24, 1927 in San Antonio, Texas. He was the oldest son of Antonio (Tony) Rozales de Luna and Ernestina (Tiny) Perez. Other children of Antonio and Ernestina included Cruz, Leo, Jose, Margaret, Nancy (Ninfa),Orfa, and David. They had lost 2 other children Olga and Andrea. Rafael (Ralph) lived in Big Wells, Tx. when he was a child and then the family moved to Hayfield, IA then to Mason City, IA. He served in the military during World War 2. His father, Antonio was born October 18,1902 in Las Esperanza, Cohilla,Mexico. He died March 5, 1989 in Mason City, IA. His father was Rafael de Luna and his mother was Manuelita Frias (not sure)Rozales. Manuelita's father was Manuelito Rozales. Ernestina was born in Cortulla, Tx on April 4, 1908 to Juan Perez and Cruz Saladina (Saldivar or Salazar)she was but a baby when her mother died and went to live with Juan Perez's family. She thought it was Saldivar, but my research believes it is Saladina. Luna history has Rafael and his father Antonio both gifted in playing the guitar and acordian. Antonio worked for the Missouri Railroad in Texas somewhere between 1930 and 1940,he worked 10 years for them. Antonio's family had land in or around Monterry, Mexico, they came to Texas via Laredo. He went to school in Mineral Wells, Tx. Antonio does have family buried in San Antonio, Texas. Rafael (Antonio's father) was a member of th Woodsmen of the World.
