Obituary of George Zombakis (1900-1960)
George Zombakis, 59, of 468 Parkway, Monessen, died February 18, 1960 at 8:35 a.m in Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh after a brief illness.
Born in Greece, Mr. Zombakis came to Monessen in 1946. He was employed by Pittsburgh Steel Co. at the Monessen plant. He was a member of St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church and G.A.P.A Plato Lodge, No. 10 of Monessen.
Surviving are his wife Polikrity Zombakis; three daughters, Mrs. Steve (Anastasia) Tetteris Jr. of Monessen, Mrs. Anthony (Virginia) Kritis of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Mrs. Steve (Eleanor) Mikedis of Chios, Greece, a son Demos of Brooklyn, NY; two grandchildren; a brother, Nick in Greece: three sisters, Anthoula Vassilakis and Aglagia Monioudis, both in Chios and Victoria Zervoudi in Argentina.
Friends are being received at the Rhome Funeral Home, McKee Avenue from 1 to 5 and 7 to 10 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Feb. 22 at 1 p.m. From the funeral home additional services to follow at 1:30 p.m. from the St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, Monessen. The Rev. Ioakim Isidorides, church pastor, will officiate. Internment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen.
