Jacob Watson Collins was born 2 Dec 1843 at his father's plantation home in the Crow Creek Community of Pickens County, SC.He was named Jacob for his Grandfather Collins and Watson for his Father. He was healthy, energetic, a lover of family and homeland,schooled, and conscientious. He enlisted at age 18 for combat service with the Confederate troops 02 July 1862, in the famous Calhoun's Cavalry, commanded by Captain John C. Calhoun (Company C,4th Regiment Cavalry), and served until 09 April 1865. He was discharged in Greensboro, NC and returned home to a broken Southland to marry Elizabeth Rice of Shady Grove Community in Pickens Co,SC on 24 August 1865. They had ten children. Elizabeth Rice Collins died 06 September 1891. Jacob Watson Collins then married Anna Rosalee Sloan in 1892. Since 1906, the Jacob Watson Collins family has held a family reunion in the upcountry of SC. Jacob Collins would be proud to know his family just celebrated their 100th consecutive reunion on August 6, 2006. This reunion was held at the Piedmont Community Building in downtown Piedmont, SC. He would also be proud that the values he instilled in his children; the values of love of family and God have been passed down through the generations.
