I've been working on my Family Tree since 1960 (with some lapses here and there). I've had great rewards in some places and am completely stymied in others. Everyone has dreamed of finding a long lost ancestor and (beyond belief!) an inheritance. Well, that actually happened to me. I had written to my Grandmother's sister in England and hadn't had any response for years. One day I received a letter from solicitors in England. She had died intestate, they had found my letter and were searching for descendants in the US. As a result my mother and her 4 living sister and brothers received a large portion of her estate!
My research encompasses all of mine and my husbands family since my aim is for all of my descendants to have a complete picture of their heritage. I find it interesting that through the years we seem to have kept our international lines fairly straight. English, German and Russian, with one side in the US back to 1700's and still can't find when they came here.
A few years ago my cousin took up an interest in our history and she has contributed a lot of research. Sharon has been wonderful and while we live several states away from each other we share info frequently.
I am pleased to have contributed my family tree to the World Tree and look forward to adding more.
