This contains images of
the pages from all three volumes of Pennsylvania Vital Records. It is
a collection of every article about births, baptisms, marriages, and deaths
that has ever appeared in The Pennsylvania Magazine of History and Biography
and the Pennsylvania Genealogical Magazine.
Referencing more than 87,000
individuals, Pennsylvania Vital Records is one of the largest bodies
of Pennsylvania source material ever published. The records date from 1701 to
1882 and come from all regions of Pennsylvania, although the majority are from
the eastern third of the state and the years 1740 to 1830. For the period prior
to 1820, they offer researchers one of the best opportunities for making ancestral
connections in Pennsylvania. The importance of this collection also stems from
the fact that neither the State of Pennsylvania nor the individual counties
had a centralized system of collecting vital information during the time period
covered by these records.
Please note that some pages
in the original books were printed sideways. To make it easier for you to read
them on your computer monitor, these pages were rotated to the upright position.
