English Origins of New England Families, 1500s-1800s
About the Data
This data set contains images of the pages from the Genealogical Publishing Company's books entitled English Origins of New England Families. Organized into two series of books each consisting of three volumes, English Origins of New England Families traces family histories back to their English roots, some as far back as the 11th century. Included on this data set are some of the most sought-after immigrant-origin articles published in The New England Historical and Genealogical Register. These articles will be of interest to almost all Americans with colonial heritage. A sizable number of articles provide information on clusters of nearly-related immigrants or on all settlers with a given surname. Other notable inclusions are articles covering over 50 of the 125 New England immigrants of royal descent and those dealing with Mayflower passengers, colony founders, and clergymen. This data set offers a wide variety of important genealogical source materials, many of which would have otherwise been difficult for the average individual to access. These materials include genealogies, birth records, marriage records, death records, land records, and wills. Combined, these articles reference the names of more than 143,000 individuals. What you can learn about each listed individual varies, depending on the article. Invariably, the information will help you locate a particular individual at a specific place and point in time. Learning a location, and date from these records may help you find your ancestor in other genealogical records not necessarily included in this collection. In some cases, particularly when your ancestor's name appears in a marriage record, land record, or will, you will also be able to establish family relationships. These six volumes were provided by the Genealogical Publishing Company of Baltimore, Maryland.
